A case study from Graham Boyd
Overview
Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, many individuals found themselves embarking on home improvement projects they had long deferred. However, what should have been a straightforward renovation endeavour turned into a logistical conundrum when our customer, Graham Boyd encountered unexpected delays in sourcing the essential tiles for his project.
The Lockdown Tile Predicament
As the pandemic tightened its grip, a surge in home renovation projects swept across the nation. With more people confined to their homes, the demand for construction materials, particularly tiles, reached unprecedented levels. Unfortunately, this surge created significant bottlenecks in supply chains, leading to extensive delays. The customer found themselves ensnared in this predicament when the concrete tiles they had initially ordered from a national merchant became unavailable for an extended period.
These tiles constituted a fundamental component of the renovation project, rendering any progress impossible without them. Frustration and apprehension grew as they contemplated the seemingly endless delays and uncertainties.
During this challenging period, a friend who had previously confronted similar renovation tribulations suggested contacting AJW Distribution. It was here that they were introduced to Tom Woods, the Sales Director at AJW Distribution.
Tom’s expertise and professionalism immediately instilled confidence. Recognising the urgency of the situation, he pledged to do everything within his power to assist. Without delay, he embarked on a quest to identify alternative tile options and provided estimated lead times for each.
Selecting the Ideal Tiles
After a meticulous evaluation of the available alternatives, Tom and the customer decided to opt for 21,000 units of Koramic 301 Clay Plain Tiles in Amarant. To complement these, they also selected Koramic 301 Clay HR Ridge Tiles in Amarant and Koramic 301 Clay Valley Tiles in Amarant for the finishing touches. Although these clay tiles were not the customers initial preference, they soon realised that they were the perfect fit for the project.
The clay plain tiles possessed a distinctive rustic charm while boasting exceptional durability and longevity. Furthermore, their classic appearance imparted timeless elegance to the house, surpassing what the original concrete tiles could offer. Tom’s guidance and expertise were pivotal in this decision-making process, ultimately leading to a choice that left the customer thrilled with the outcome.
