AJW Distribution Essex Open Event – Friday 17th July 2015
Following the opening of our new Essex depot we wanted to ensure that all local roofers were aware of our brand new premises, so we decided to launch our new depot with an Open Event. We invited a selection of our suppliers along to showcase their products to our customers, we also allowed those who would like to, to do hourly demonstrations. Alongside our suppliers we held a raffle & played darts to raise money for local charity Brainwave, and served food and drinks to all those who attended.
Although the day might not have been as busy as we had hoped the day ran perfectly. We received a steady flow of new and current customer’s through-out the day with those who attended receiving great advice from all of the suppliers. Along with receiving flyers and technical advice from the teams they could also receive training from three of our suppliers which included Cromar, Cure-It and Flex-R. The teams demonstrated to our customers how to install their products correctly ensuring that our customer were aware of all of the information needed to make a success of using this products.
With the weather on our side we were able to have a BBQ so all visitors were treated to a bacon, sausage or egg butty for breakfast and then a burger or sausage butty for their lunch. We were treated to cooking by our resident BBQ Chef, Mike Beale our Business Development Manager.
As part of our Open Event we help a raffle and also ran a Dart competition on the day to raise money for our chosen charity Brainwave. We decided to choose a local charity and this charity seemed perfect. After visiting the charity at their office in central Witham I was even more certain that we had picked the right charity. The work they do is just incredible, supporting families with disabled children, aiming to improve their mobility, communication skills and learning potential, through a range of educational and physical therapies.
For further details about our chosen charity for this event please visit their website http://www.brainwave.org.uk/
We received huge support from all of our suppliers for prizes for this raffle as you can see from the pictures below. These prizes included Champagne, a BOSE speaker, £50 John Lewis vouchers, a Golf Day, bottles of whisky, Fortnum & Mason wines, an M&S Chocolate hamper and many other goodies. We would like to thank all of our suppliers because without the support & generosity of some fabulous prizes we would never have sold so many raffle tickets.
We were lucky enough to have Gerry Gould the manager from Brainwave attend the event to draw the raffle at the end of the day. She was extremely thankful that we had chosen Brainwave as our chosen charity for the event and explained how our money would help local children and families.
Alongside the raffle our Managing Director, who is a very keen fundraiser, started a game of darts. It was 50p for 3 darts and so the competition began to see who the best was or should I say luckiest dart player was on the day.
After a day of rounding up everyone to play we ended the competition with a battle of the top two players, this was Gareth Kitchen from Cromar & Robert Cook from E.H Smith. After a competitive round we asked Gerry from Brainwave to congratulate our winner Gareth with a bottle of wine. As you can see from the pictures Robert our runner up also received a prize.
We were extremely proud that after such a successful raffle and dart game that we raised £351.00 for Brainwave. We would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket and threw a dart as this money is invaluable to the charity.
