A roofing project case study from AJW
A fabulous example of a new build development that is very much in character with its surroundings on the farm, and the open fields around.
Roof: Marley Acme Double Camber Smooth Brindle clay tile
Cladding: Cedral C04 Dark Brown
The challenge
When the client here was looking to develop a holiday let and farm office, and accommodation for harvest workers this started a long process of careful product selection to meet the requirements.
As if life on a farm is not busy enough the wife of the owner here decided she would take on the role of project management for this new development which had been in mind for a few years. Sally started the process in conjunction with their architect in putting the scheme together and deciding the look that she wanted, whilst trying to keep within the planning requirements.
The solution
AJW became involved with build at a fairly early stage when we made contact to establish what materials were being used on this site. The plan was to use a clay tile and a timber like cladding to try and maintain the traditional barn appearance for this new build. We met with Sally on numerous occasions and soon established that the lady knew what she was looking for and had a great eye for detail in every aspect of the product choice.
Over a long period products were selected, areas measured up, options quoted until final choices were made. The use of the marley Acme Double Camber Smooth Brindle clay tile has really enabled the building to blend in with the surroundings and the rich, warm tones are very pleasing to the eye. Match this with the Cedral weatherboard cladding in colour CO4 Dark Brown, all around the building and you have an excellent example of how the products can complement each other to produce that new but traditional feel to a building
The results
Sally and her husband are delighted with end result and all the time spent selecting materials, managing progress and material requirements have paid off. Equally AJW are delighted to have played their part in helping the client achieve their aims with this development.
