Dear Charlotte and the AJW Distribution team,

Thank you very much for donating £8,402 to our Big Give campaign. Your gift was doubled
and we received a phenomenal £16,804 thanks to you. These funds will help older people
who have become incredibly isolated. AJW Distribution played an integral role in our
campaign, helping us to raise £70,000 through the campaign overall. These funds will be
used to provide regular companionship over the phone and through our much-loved social
groups.

Whenever I hear from one of the older people we support, their letters build a picture of what
life is like for older people on their own. I hear about dearly missed husbands and wives,
about being stuck inside, of beloved pets and stories from the past. Many are simply writing
to say thank you. The letters frequently mention the names of our volunteers who have been
especially thoughtful. Some are amazed at the kindness shown to them, not realising
perhaps, the joy our volunteers get from their company.

As we head into Christmas, the connections made through Re-engage will be particularly
important. For many older people on their own, Christmas is a sad and lonely time. It can
mean an awful lot to have no one to ask how they are or have nothing to look forward to.
Just one phone call can have a huge impact on happiness.

There are millions of older people in the UK who are living lonely lives and the need for our
programmes rises steeply over the winter months. Because of the generosity of our donors,
we’ll give lots more older people a new friend to brighten their day.
